There are two sides that face each other in a battle that began in modern times: the parents who stand in favor of this particular school uniform and those who just don’t want to see their children wear these little gowns.
We ask ourselves: is it mandatory to wear school apron? There are many battles carried out with determination and strong motivation by armies of mothers convinced that the apron is something that now belongs to the past. Times have changed and society presents itself wearing new clothes, among which the school uniform, which incorporates the shapes of the gowns worn by the doctors, just does not fit.
Battles started (and not yet finished) to make it clear that children must have the opportunity to express their identity even through the clothes they wear at school. It’s all true? Above all, is it right? Still, is it just a whim of the parents or is the apron really something limiting (not just in the movements)?
The debate is on and we have decided to remain neutral. What does the law say? All these problems stem from the law. What do you mean? In this case, as for other things, the problems derive precisely from the lack of clarity of the regulations in force.
In our country, the principle/system of school autonomy is in force, which does not provide for any imposition as regards the use of currencies within public schools, leaving wide decision-making autonomy to institutions. Each school can decide, by adopting a precise internal regulation, whether to wear the apron for children or not.
Yes or no kindergarten apron? How do we respond? In truth, we have already given an answer to this thorny question, which can also be repeated with regard to the world of elementary school, but we can add, have a more precise picture, that the apron is not mandatory.
Warning! This does not mean that it is possible to do one’s own thing since the regulations of the individual Institutes speak for themselves. In our opinion, the school apron should not be understood as a real uniform, but simply as a garment that allows children to be all the same in the same place.
Something that makes it possible to highlight the sense of belonging and respect (at school, as in the Church or in other places, it is not possible to go dressed as one believes) towards the Institute of belonging. The rules are there and must be respected as such.
So what is the real problem? Those who oppose the use of the apron at school see this particular garment as a great limit to lay bare their individuality. At school, you go to study, to always learn new things, to socialize and feel part of a second family.

Going deeper into the question, we can analyze the social aspect, since even a simple apron can help erase the social differences among children. The school is not a catwalk where children are paraded with designer clothes! Finally, the apron is a symbol, something that shows respect for the rules, the school ones.
Making children understand compliance with the guidelines is really difficult, so why not start right here? Many will turn up their noses, raising their eyebrows and assuming expressions that can describe their different way of seeing. The apron is also a symbol of an important educational aspect. Is it possible to work wearing shorts, a tank top, flip-flops, and sunglasses? No, unless you are responsible for the safety of people on the beach!
